Architects and specifiers

Drawing-led answers for specification.

Specification-led product selection and drawing-led answers for windows, doors, curtain walling and internal glazed screens. Send the detail you have drawn and we confirm a product route that holds it, with the documentation to back it.

Before fabrication, we review the selected route against the drawing and identify the current product evidence and documentation that the project requires. Figures on this site are system envelopes; your opening gets its own evidence.

Fabricated in Haydock, St HelensTrade-only supply from our own workshop.

Evidence with the estimateCurrent test documents for the configuration you specify, sent at quote.

Evidence before relianceRequest current route-specific documents before relying on any performance or marking claim.

Specification support

The junction you detailed is the junction we fabricate. We advise on the product route that meets the sightline, performance and finish you have specified, without value-engineering surprises.

Performance requirements

Thermal, security, weather and acoustic targets are reviewed for the actual opening, glazing, hardware and exposure. A generic website value is never a project guarantee.

Documentation

Ask for the current evidence relevant to the selected route before fabrication, ordering or relying on a claimed performance. Installation and final sign-off remain with the responsible project parties.

The figures behind the figures

Every performance number on this site traces to a standard and a tested configuration. These set out which standard, what it measures, and what the class is tied to, so a value can be specified rather than assumed.

Common questions

What specifiers ask before sending a detail

Whose test evidence am I relying on?

The system manufacturer’s. Curtain walling is fabricated to BS EN 13830 and windows and doors to BS EN 14351-1, and those standards describe the tested performance of the systems we fabricate in, held against a tested configuration. VitrineAlu fabricates to those configurations. Ask for the current route-specific evidence before relying on a figure in a specification.

Are the published U-values the ones I can specify?

No. A published figure is a system starting point. The whole-unit figure depends on the actual size, glazing, configuration and installation, so it is confirmed for your opening at quote rather than taken from a web page or a brochure.

What do you need to price a detail?

The drawing or elevation, the exposure category, the thermal target and the programme dates. Estimates go out within 24 hours, Monday to Friday. Anything needing a special or a structural check gets a date the same day.

Do you install, or work with our contractor?

We supply only. We fabricate in Haydock and do not install, so we are never bidding against the glazing subcontractor on your project. Installation and final sign-off stay with the responsible project parties.

Can you support UKCA marking and a Declaration of Performance?

On the specified route, yes. Which documentation applies depends on the product route and the project, so tell us the requirement at enquiry and it is confirmed against the selected system rather than assumed.
