How we specify

The right product route is chosen per project

Exact specification (U-value, sizes, weights, security class, finish) is confirmed per project at quote, selected to suit the trade brief.

It means you lead with the outcome: light, security, clean sightlines, usable openings, buildable details and a specification that suits the drawings.

Common questions

How does a tilt and turn window actually work?

A tilt and turn window gives two opening modes from one handle. Turn the handle and the sash swings fully inward like a door for cleaning. Turn it back and the top tilts in for secure background air. One frame, two functions, with sashes up to 1.3 m by 2.4 m where specified. See our tilt and turn range.

Can I leave a tilt and turn window open for ventilation safely?

Yes. The tilt position holds the sash inward at the top for background airflow while it stays mechanically locked on every side. Air permeability meets the highest tested class, with watertightness and wind resistance confirmed per project, so driving rain stays out. Harder to force than a propped sash. Check locking against our security guidance.

Do tilt and turn windows help with cleaning and escape?

Yes. Full turn mode swings the sash into the room, so you clean both glass faces from indoors with no ladder, which suits upper floors and flats. Sashes run up to 1.3 m by 2.4 m, or 1.2 m by 3.5 m on standard solutions, at up to 160 kg. Check the clear opening against egress at quote.

What glazing goes in aluminium tilt and turn windows?

Aluminium tilt and turn sashes take double or triple glazing, with acoustic options up to 40 mm reaching Rw 46 dB, plus solar control, obscure and toughened or laminated safety glass. The hinge set carries heavier triple units. Whole-window U-values run from 0.66 W/m2K where specified. Confirm the whole-unit Uw at energy efficiency.

Where do tilt and turn windows suit best?

Tilt and turn windows suit upper floors, flats, stairwells and openings where an outward sash would foul a walkway, balcony or neighbour. The inward action means no external projection and cleaning from inside, with sashes to 160 kg and a tested security route specified per project. New build or retrofit. Proof, not promises

Specified and made by people who have fitted it

Paul Fradley, Director and Technical Lead, has worked almost every role in windows and doors across more than twenty years: surveyed, fabricated on the floor, fitted on site, then ran the technical and operations side. He leads the spec on every project, so what we quote is what we fabricate.
