Ask for the current test evidence behind any figure you plan to rely on. Windows and doors are fabricated to configurations tested to BS EN 14351-1, curtain walling to BS EN 13830, with security routes tested to PAS 24 where specified. The evidence belongs to the system it was tested on; we confirm which configuration your opening falls inside and send the current documents at quote.

What we send

Evidence available for a trade project

  • Thermal: whole-unit U-value calculation sheets to BS EN ISO 10077-1 and 10077-2, for the glass and sizes on your schedule, for Approved Document L.
  • Security: the PAS 24 test report for the route specified, where the project calls for Approved Document Q.
  • Weather: the air permeability, watertightness and wind resistance classes from the test evidence, to BS 6375-1, with the size they were achieved at.
  • Acoustics: the sound reduction (Rw) figure for the glass specified, where the test evidence carries one.
  • Specification schedule: the product route, configuration, glass and finish for each opening on the project.

Send your drawings, opening schedule and performance targets. We confirm the product route and send the current test evidence and calculation sheets for that configuration with the estimate.

Standards and building regulation routes

  1. Approved Document L. Thermal performance for new build and refurbishment. The whole-unit calculation takes the centre-pane Ug of the glass, the spacer bar psi value and the frame Uf. Read the thermal guidance.
  2. Approved Document Q. Security for accessible windows and doors in new dwellings, met with routes tested to PAS 24 where specified. Read the security guidance.

What technical documents come with a trade estimate?

The current test evidence for the configuration your opening falls inside, the U-value calculation sheet for the glass on your schedule, the PAS 24 test report where a security route is specified, and a specification schedule for the project.

Does test evidence carry across different window or door sizes?

No. Test evidence covers a size envelope, a glass specification and a hardware configuration. We check your opening against the tested boundary and say which configuration it falls inside before the estimate goes out.
