Aluminium bifolds fold flat against the reveal, clearing the full span. Runs go up to 7 leaves on the standard route, and up to 14 leaves where specified, with individual leaves up to 1.2 m wide and 3.0 m tall at up to 130 kg each. Clear opening depends on panel count and weight. Confirm the figure for your structural opening at quote.
What panel split and maximum panel sizes should I specify?
Aluminium bifolds run splits from 2 up to 7 leaves, folding left, right or from the centre. Each leaf reaches up to 1.2 m by 3.0 m at up to 130 kg, capped by glazing weight. Glass runs 22 to 40 mm on the standard route, and up to 46 mm where specified, double or triple. Heavier glass cuts leaf size, so set the split against glass at quote.
Can a bifold have a traffic door and a low threshold?
Yes. The traffic door is an access leaf that swings like a single door for daily use, so the whole run stays folded. Pair it with the 20 mm thermally broken low-threshold option for a near-level, pram and wheelchair-friendly crossing. Weather is rated to air permeability Class 4, so weigh exposure at quote.
How secure are aluminium bifold doors?

Bifolds come in full RAL, dual-colour and anodised-style finishes, with whole-door U-values from 1.2 W/m²K on the standard route and from 0.9 W/m²K where specified.
