Stick-system curtain walling, supplied to the trade

Our core offer is the stick system: individual mullions and transoms cut, prepped and supplied loose for assembly on site, with the glass and infill panels following to the same schedule. It suits the way commercial contractors actually work, because the components ship flat, get craned to each level and built up storey by storey against the slab edge. You hold the programme, you hold the install, and we keep the fabricated parts flowing to match your sequence.

Stick build gives you flexibility on site for setting out and tolerance against structural movement, which is why it remains the workhorse for low and mid-rise commercial facades. We supply the carrier system, pressure plates, capping, gaskets, brackets and the cut profiles, all drawing-led from your elevations. For door and screen interfaces within the facade line, we tie the curtain walling back to matched commercial doors and framing so the whole envelope reads as one system.

Thermal and structural performance you can specify

The curtain walling carries a whole-facade Ucw from 0.6 W/m2K where specified, confirmed per project at quote against your glazing spec, framing density and opening ratio. That is a genuine starting point for a thermally broken facade, not a headline number, and the figure we put on your drawings is the figure we stand behind.

Glazing is accommodated from 22mm up to 58mm depending on the system, so double and triple glazed units, acoustic laminates and solar-control build-ups all sit within the same framing family. Where the brief calls for it we can hit acoustic performance to Rw 46 dB where specified. The full picture on whole-facade U-values is in our aluminium U-values guide, and we will work the numbers around your Part L target rather than the other way round.

Drawing-led from elevation to delivery

Every facade we quote starts from your information. Send elevations, sections, a glazing schedule and the structural grid, and we work back to a fabrication route, a bracket and movement strategy and a cutting schedule. We flag where setting-out, slab tolerances or thermal movement need resolving before anything is cut, so problems surface on paper and not on the scaffold.

You get clear schedules, labelled components and a delivery sequence that matches how the facade goes up. Because we are fabricating to your drawings rather than selling a fixed catalogue, awkward openings, feature mullions, corner conditions and tie-ins to roof and ground floor lines are handled as part of the specification. See the wider product detail on the main aluminium curtain walling page.

Standards, compliance and documentation

The curtain walling is fabricated and supplied to BS EN 13830, the harmonised standard for the curtain walling product. We support UKCA marking and provide the Declaration of Performance your principal contractor and building control will ask for, so the paperwork side of the envelope is covered rather than left for you to chase.

As a member of the Council for Aluminium in Building, our specification follows the framework the industry expects for commercial facade work. PAS 24 security routes are available where the project calls for enhanced resistance at ground floor or accessible glazing. Our short reference on EN 13830 and what it covers sets out exactly what the standard tests and how that flows into your handover pack.

Who we supply and how to start

We supply commercial contractors, fabricator-installers, shopfitters and main contractors who manage their own facade install. You take care of craneage, fixing and weathering on site; we take care of getting the right system specified, fabricated accurately and delivered to your programme. If you run repeat commercial work it is worth opening a trade account so pricing, drawings and schedules sit in one place.

To get moving, send your facade drawings through the quote route and we will come back with the specified system and a confirmed price, or open a trade account at apply for a trade account. Pricing and lead times are confirmed per project at quote against your final spec and quantities.

Common questions

Do you install the curtain walling or just supply it?

We supply only. VitrineAlu fabricates the stick-system curtain walling to your drawings and delivers it to your programme. Your team handles craneage, fixing and weathering on site. We support trade buyers who manage their own install, so we keep the components and schedules flowing to match your sequence.

What Ucw can the curtain walling achieve?

Whole-facade Ucw from 0.6 W/m2K where specified, confirmed per project at quote. The exact figure depends on your glazing spec, framing density and opening ratio. We work the numbers around your Part L target and put a value on your drawings that we stand behind. See our aluminium U-values guide.

Is the curtain walling a stick system or unitised?

Our core trade offer is the stick system, with mullions, transoms and infill supplied loose for assembly on site storey by storey. It suits low and mid-rise commercial facades and gives flexibility for setting out and structural movement. Send your elevations through the quote route and we will specify the right route.

What standards does the curtain walling meet?

It is fabricated and supplied to BS EN 13830, the harmonised standard for curtain walling. We support UKCA marking and provide the Declaration of Performance for building control. We are a Council for Aluminium in Building member, and PAS 24 security routes are available where required. More detail in our EN 13830 guide.

What information do you need to quote a facade?

Send elevations, sections, a glazing schedule and the structural grid. We work back to a fabrication route, a bracket and movement strategy and a cutting schedule, flagging any setting-out or tolerance issues before anything is cut. Proof, not promises

Specified and made by people who have fitted it

Paul Fradley, Director and Technical Lead, has worked almost every role in windows and doors across more than twenty years: surveyed, fabricated on the floor, fitted on site, then ran the technical and operations side. He leads the spec on every project, so what we quote is what we fabricate.
